Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher for all subjects in a low socioeconomic area in Southern Nevada. My school is in a high-need, high poverty community where there is a 95% or more Hispanic population, many of them with English as a second language.

After many requests, I received an Elmo projector for my classroom. My students love the ability to see exactly what their work should look like, but often I want to show them documents from my computer or online resources and I can't connect my Elmo to my desktop computers (based on their immovable location in the room in relation to my boards). I know my students would love to sit at their desks and look at computer things instead of crowding around my desktop on the carpet!

I need a laptop computer that can connect to my Elmo projector. My students will greatly benefit from the programs I can create on my computer and the online resources I can pull up to show them to enrich my lessons in all areas. Vocabulary, math demos, writing practice, social studies examples - my students get to be better exposed to them all!

Your donation will ensure that my students are enriched in every subject, every lesson with less effort on my part. This allows me to teach the lessons with ease and the students to see all the concepts visually because many of them are still learning English as a second language, so I need all the tools available to have them learn!
