Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a school with 24 students from low-income households. It is a source of great professional fulfillment for me. I've witnessed daily triumphs and joys that more than offset the particular difficulties in working with economically deprived children.

Working with children who live in poverty requires some special skills; skills that took me years to develop.

Often the public, and even educators, view working with economically stressed children as something that lesser teachers do. These kids come to school eager to learn and enjoy being around each other.

My Project

Education is the key to success. It is important to give our kids the knowledge and skills they require. Due to budget cuts, we are not able to afford the resources needed to meet the students. The Chromebooks will help make learning real and give my students access to information they need to be successful in class.

The Chromebooks will allow me to have more centers in the classroom, where students will not have to wait for a computer to become available.

The students will use the technology for research and game-based learning platform as such as Kahoot, Education Galaxy, and Learning Farm.
