This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very special because they work hard to learn high school content while learning a new language. All of my students are ESL students. They are a diverse group that recently immigrated to the United States from Egypt, Mexico, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Our school, located in Queens, New York serves a large population of students who live under the poverty level.
My students enjoy learning about history from the perspective of individuals who actually experienced the events.
My Project
All of my students need to improve their research and writing skills. A Chromebook would allow my students to complete essays by collaborating with each other and creating presentations.
Writing and creating presentations are essential skills that are needed to graduate from high school and necessary in college and beyond.
I have many students who are also very curious and like to do further research based on what they learned in the class. A laptop that can travel throughout the classroom based on need is a valuable resource. The Chromebook's light weight and easy use will be an asset in my classroom.
