Goodbye Sad, Dirty Rug! Hello Happy, Clean Rug!

My students need a large, comfortable, durable, and stain resistant classroom carpet for our morning meetings and for times they're working on the rug.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rees's classroom raised $683

My Students

Our students are joyful, hard-working and inspirational in their stamina and resilience. They also make our school the most diverse school in the district! For example, in one classroom, there can be up to ten different languages represented. Because of where we are located, we also have a growing number of students who are in transitional housing. Whatever the challenge, our students are constantly learning from each other and inspiring one another through their differences and similarities.

The diversity of our students sets our school apart from others and has created an amazing school community!

This unique quality has also presented challenges in differentiating our instruction; specifically in reading and language arts. This only emboldens our kids to strive for more while instilling a deeper level of understanding for other's struggles.

My Project

The classroom carpet I am requesting for my students is much larger than my old carpet! Imagine thirty 5th graders, some bigger than their teacher, squished within the confines of a much too small, progressively dirty carpet, trying hard not to touch each other too much or accidentally kick each other when they have to move. Enter notebooks and pencils and you have a recipe for disaster!

In our classroom, everything begins and ends on the rug!

We begin our day as a classroom community on the rug with our morning meeting. Lesson objectives are introduced and mini-lessons are conducted on the classroom rug and closing out the session's activity ends on that same rug. In between these times, students have the option to do their work on the rug, sometimes with many supplies spread around them. At the end of the day, we have our closing classroom meeting on the rug. The classroom rug is the what makes our class world go 'round!

A new and larger classroom rug would mean that my students' comfort would be vastly improved! When my students are comfortable, they listen better and work better. That not only makes them happy, but it makes their dear teacher ecstatic!
