My Students
Our school is a middle/high school in the urban area of Maryland. We focus on educating our students to become great leaders and citizens. Students are celebrated for exhibiting our school's core values: integrity, scholarship, citizenship, perseverance, and sustainability.
My students learn best through real-world applications, hands-on activities, and authentic experiences.
They work super hard and they are eager to learn. I teach students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds. My students are in various grade levels, but they all thrive when they get to "do" science!
For the 2021-2022 school year, I am teaching AP Seminar, AP Research, and Independent Study: Science. STEM/STEAM hands-on activities, cross-curricular projects, and laboratory investigations help my students to learn and apply concepts.
Having experiences dealing with research in high school will better prepare them for their future college and career choices. AP Seminar and AP Research allow them to explore themes, develop and refine their reading and writing skills, earn college credit, and so much more. Independent Study: Science allows them to explore topics within science that are interesting to them. I am so excited to be teaching these courses!
My Project
My students LOVE to do experiments and hands-on activities. Hands-on, minds-on! My students develop their own experimental procedures. After a series of peer and teacher checks, they conduct those procedures to collect and then analyze their data. Some work with chemicals and other substances that require gloves.

Because of the awesome experiments that they've done in the first semester, our stock is running low. In order for them to continue to conduct their own experiments, we need more gloves! A variety of sizes is necessary so that students can have gloves that actually fit them. The bean bag chair is a flexible seating option for non-lab days, which allows everyone to have a safe and comfortable choice.
