Our school is unique from the word go! We were born of a split from the local middle school that had grown to a population of 1600 with 12 mobile classrooms covering the lawn. As a passionate plea was heard from teachers, administration, and the community, we were moved to an older alternative school building that was built in the 1950’s. Our school proudly led the way with standard dress and gender-based classrooms. Behavior incident documentation fell dramatically! We are the only 6th grade academy in our county.
Our location and size keeps us one of the best kept secrets in our county.
Our school’s population comes from a diverse and rapidly changing community and are currently at 89% free or reduced rate lunch recipients. As a small learning community, we are a close knit school family intently focusing on the needs of our students.
LSGA utilizes the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework to create a positive environment for learning. Office referrals and behavior incidences have dropped dramatically. LSGA currently has a Fully Operational status with PBIS.
Recently, LSGA began awarding points for following the Falcon Five expectations electronically through the PBIS Rewards App where points accumulate in the student's account.
Students may then trade their points for privileges and items from the classroom and school stores. So far my classroom store has been self funded, but I am unable to continue to purchase items to keep up with demand. Please help provide quality incentives for grateful students.
