Kindergarten is always a very busy and exciting place. Students can't wait to come each day and learn by experiencing new and fun activities.
I teach Kindergarten in a small rural community.
Our school has just under 300 students. This year I have 18 students. Only 25% of my students attended any sort of preschool, due to lack of availability. Joining our classroom is their first experience in a school setting. We are Title 1 school with the majority of the students on free and reduced-price lunch. Funds are limited for teachers to purchase learning materials for students.
My Project
My students want to and will become readers this year! Kids need to be surrounded by lots and lots of books. I want to be able to fill my classroom library. My project will improve my classroom in many ways.
I want to give kids the opportunity to become lifelong lovers of books and reading.
Students will be able to use the books at their “just right” level to strengthen their reading skills. Having a wide variety of engaging, high quality books will inspire students to read. I want my kids to get to browse through colorful, vibrant books looking for adventure.
