Help me give my students some snacks this year. These kids are always hungry, and I would love to be able to provide them with a snack a couple times a week. Thanks in advance!
In my classroom, I consistently emphasize the importance of a growth mindset.
Although they are all in the same grade, not all of my students have the same goals.
Some are learning to speak, read and write in English as it is not their first language. Others are working through difficult situations at home. Some are working towards building stamina when it comes to academics or self control. All of their goals are wonderful and as a teacher, my goal is to help them reach their highest level of achievement while celebrating their progress.
I am always fascinated by the stories they tell me, things they choose to share with the class, and the way they interact with one another. As a class, we not only work on academic skill, but also creating an environment of comradery and support. My students are encouraged to celebrate their differences and value them. I openly speak to them about my experiences as an English Language Learner, and encourage them to see their differences as beautiful, their challenges as opportunities, and every day as a chance to grow and try again.
My Project
Kids are always HUNGRY!
I would love some help keeping their tummy rumbles at bay while they are at school.
The students in my second grade class are constantly hungry between breakfast and lunch. Although I have been paying for snacks out of pocket up until now, it is not financially feasible to do so over the course of an entire year. I sent home requests for parents to donate class snacks if they feel inclined, and so far only 2 parents have done so. Most of my students come from households that have just enough to get by so I understand why they can not donate, but that doesn't change the fact that these students are having trouble concentrating because they are so hungry.
I noticed that when students receive a snack, their mood, academic performance, and energy levels improve.
I will continue to provide snack twice a week with my own money, but I humbly ask for you assistance in helping these kids.
