Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After learning at home during Covid, students are struggling to adapt to sitting in a classroom for 6-7 hours a day. Standing desks, fidgets, and sensory toys help students to be able to meet their emotional needs so they can focus on the learning in front of them.

I have asked for two standing desks with tall chairs so that students who want to be able to stand or frequently move around can do that without feeling like they “stand out” from the rest of students in desks.

Chair bands, sensory stickers, and other fidgets give students a safe outlet for their sensory needs. Students in the past have greatly appreciated when I can quietly pass them a sensory toy when I can tell they are having a hard time sitting still or concentrating - getting the wiggles out in these ways means they can stop focusing on how to keep their bodies still and can put that energy toward learning.
