Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Having my students read for just 20 minutes each day will expose them to over 3600 minutes of text and 1.8 million words. Let's give them the resources to make it happen.

My students are eager to become better learners and improve themselves.

They are funny, smart, and diverse learners. I have a group of students that don't know the joy of reading simply because they have not found that special book to open their eyes.

My Project

My students need 40 new books to improve literacy and meet their interests. These materials will give my students access to what we call "just right" books. Just right books are books that are at the student's level AND of interest to them. These books are at an independent level for comprehension but still introduce the students to new words and push their limits. These motivating, high interest books will challenge students during their independent reading time.

I strongly believe that students who "don't like to read" just haven't found the right book.

These books are opening up real worlds that my students can find real connections to. When students can relate to a book, it is that much more enjoyable. I became a teacher with the hope of opening up the world of reading for students; please help me make this a reality.
