This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students live by the C.A.R.E.S. core values - Caring, Appreciative, Responsible, Empathetic and Steadfast. All of our students show grit and determination even in the face of uncertainty. Everyday our children show up and we do our best to make a difference. We act as role models reminding them that it’s never, “I can’t.” It’s, “I can’t do that YET.” This is so true in reading especially in the Integrated General Education/Special Education classroom.

My Project

Teaching students of varying reading levels is challenging especially when you want to read more interesting stories. My students are trying to make progress but need some newer up to date titles to pique their interest. Helping to fund this project not only helps the children in my class but assists me in providing interesting topics and stories for intensive guided reading in small groups. Scholastic Branches Books and Series allows me to do the work that so desperately needs to be done and the students enjoy engaging with the he material. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a struggling reader asking for the next book in a series that is manageable to read. By donating to this project you are opening a new world to a student who is striving to become a better reader.
