Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love to celebrate different cultures and traditions in my classroom. During November we covered the Latino tradition, Dia de Los Muertos. In December we touched upon Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. In January and February, I teach and celebrate the Chinese New Year. This coming new year will be extra exciting for me to teach because it's the year of the snake - my year.

Teaching about different traditions and cultures is vital in order to help students be understanding and accepting of everyone.

Every year, I teach about the Chinese New Year and have a celebration. My students are encouraged to wear red, for lunch we order noodles from a local restaurant, we have a celebration with photos so that my students can remember the event and show their families why and how they celebrated. I am asking for a red Photo Booth background and a photo picture packet to print out the photos. I am also asking for printable fabric so that we can print long-lasting banners with different Chinese New Year sayings, quotes, and animals on the calendar. The red backdrop will be used for the photos.

These items will help my students learn about and understand the beautiful tradition of the Chinese New Year. My students will learn to be respectful and understanding of different cultures, they'll understand that diversity is beautiful.
