Gone Fishing: Little Anglers on the Pond

Help me give my students a Kodiak canoe for accessible access to the water for all students, fishing poles for K-3rd grades, and fishing gear for teaching staff to assist students.

My Project

I'm requesting fishing poles that are appropriate sizes for 5-10 years old children, fishing gear (small tackle boxes, bobbers, hooks, scissors, and pliers) for teaching staff to properly assist young fisher kids with their catch, and a canoe that will hold a teaching staff member and child to make open water fishing accessible to our students who are in early grades, have a physical limitation, or are neurodiverse and will benefit from the safety of having an adult in the canoe.

Fishing with students has numerous benefits: it aids in the development of social-emotional skills such as patience, focus, and dealing with disappointment, develops gross and fine motor muscles, relieves stress and promotes well-being with time spent outdoors, and fosters in children a deeper connection and appreciation of nature and conservation of natural resources.
