This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 6-11 years old with varying ethnic backgrounds. I teach Physical Education and they all have a wide variety of athletic abilities and interests, with many strengths and weaknesses. We have a large number of lower-income students as well.

These students love school and love coming to the gym.

They love to play and have fun in PE class. They do a great job of coming to PE with a great attitude, ready to learn, and have fun. We do play great games and exercise a lot, but I want to be able to monitor their progress on skills more.

My Project

Golf is one of the few sports that can be played safely right now. It is one of the few places that you can be active while socially distancing. This is a sport my students would love to learn and we do not yet have the equipment to do so. This equipment would help over 300 students learn discipline and honesty, while also working on an activity they can play for a lifetime. We will be able to hit balls in our gym or outside with enough equipment for the whole class! This will give us enough clubs, balls, and hitting mats to learn the basics of the game of golf.
