Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title I school where many of the students are economically disadvantaged. They all experienced Hurricane Harvey last year, yet are so hardworking and eager to learn. I will be teaching math to two classes in third grade this year, and one of my classes receives their reading/writing instruction in Spanish. I want my students to have the tools that they need to be successful.
I want to excite my students about learning and improve their math skills!
I like to provide my students with experiences and lessons to encourage their success. It is important that my students are engaged in fun, exciting, and challenging activities.

I am requesting Goldfish and animal crackers, pastry crisps, and fruit snacks for my students to fuel their minds.
Your help will replenish the snacks from another project previously funded at the beginning of the year. This year school starts at 7:35 and we have the first lunch of the day at 11:00. By the end of the day, which is 4 hours later, some students are in need of a snack in the afternoon or while they wait for buses to be called. Some of these students might not have any snacks at home, so by giving them something to eat will give them a boost of energy while they complete their homework. Students who have full tummies will be able to focus and concentrate. Fueling my students with these healthy snacks will allow my students to "hear" all of their lessons and be able to actively participate in class. The shelving units will keep our snacks and classroom supplies organized.
While we currently take "brain breaks" throughout the day, the treat of an actual snack will be special to help my students stay on task until it's time to go home. Extra snacks can be sent home with those that are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and are needing more assistance. Thank you for hooking my students up with healthy snacks.
