This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and innovative learners. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging art projects that allow them to think outside the box and build their creative minds! They come to school each day, both in person and virtually, ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration each day!
Many students come to class saying they have difficulty completing hands-on art lessons at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Our school give our students many great opportunities to learn but challenges with some families who are struggling financially due to the pandemic has caused us to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, collaborative work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met during this difficult time. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to be part of a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn.
My Project
This school year has presented some challenges. Many of our families are struggling financially due to the pandemic. My art classroom has shifted gears this year with teaching students virtually and in-person with traveling to classrooms on my art cart instead of in my classroom. With these given circumstances, students are in need of individual art supplies to continue creating high-quality, amazing artworks safely!
Students are in much need of markers, crayons, and scissors to create high-quality artworks that they can be proud of.
The supplies would be used to help students at school as well as students who are learning from home to be prepared for art class and create a variety of art projects throughout this school year. Art supplies would be given to all students, both in-person and virtual, so all students have equal opportunities to create.
