My Project

Using the Sphere BOLT, my students will be able to integrate literacy and math concepts into their coding! Lesson plans like using the SPHERO Bolt to program them to calculate the area and perimeter of a geometric shape will get even the most reluctant learners involved .... and help them retain what they have learned!

Using the literature book, Perimeter, Area, and Volume: A Monster Book of Dimensions, my students will work in groups to use their foundational and comprehension skills to find scenarios for SPHERO BOLT to recreate mathematically.

Students will use problem solving, the engineering process and mathematical strategies to check their work and solve for various problems. This is just one way that SPHERO BOLT can be used. Having some SPHERO BOLTS and SPHERO MINI's allows for higher learners to dig deeper into programming with the BOLT, while keeping coding accessible to all learners with the Mini.

My students are utterly fascinated by creative and engaging ideas. There is nothing more engaging than ROBOTS. Teaching students how coding goes well beyond a video game they play at home, allows students to get real world connections on ways they can continue to learn and grow into potentially STEM careers!
