My Students

Students in this school come from mixed economic backgrounds and face multiple challenges typical of middle school. Anxiety and depression rates are high, and our school has seen a number of tragedies in the last few years. Music is a balm to the soul, and our students need diverse opportunities to encounter making music. It is my pursuit to give these amazing kids as many musical experiences as possible.

My students are spirited, resourceful and determined.

They love to sing and actively make music together. They are fascinated when introduced to new melodies and singing harmony together. With a hope to offer more opportunities for creating music, I am intent on giving these eager students a legacy of learning and artistry.

My Project

There are many quality apps on iOS devices that make learning music engaging and fun. There are also many apps that allow teachers to modify instruction, provide enrichment, and intervention strategies for students with special needs. For instance, printed sheet music can often be small print, and an iPad will allow us to zoom in and see the music in a larger font.

Access to an iPad pro will open up possibilities for music reading.

Students can mark a music score, play an on-screen keyboard, or access music writing software by playing a keyboard directly into iPad.

The best way to inspire students is to show them the seemingly endless possibilities one can successfully make music. Having the latest technology will give us an advantage to meet our goals.
