My Students

All of my students are learning English as a second language.

Our school is in a high poverty area where all students are provided with free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also one of the oldest in the neighborhood, over 100 years old, and we don't have many new resources to share with the children. My students really need new ways to build their vocabulary and grow their love of reading.

My Project

Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? My students may not...yet! We are lacking Dr. Seuss books, which every first grade classroom should have, so I am requesting several copies of his work. Some of the books even come with a CD, so that students can listen to the stories being read in a fun way. This request also includes motivational posters, bookmarks, and stickers to provide further interest about Dr. Seuss and his books. They will also remind kids that reading is fun! The request also includes a teacher's guide book to help me help the students dive into the stories more deeply and build comprehension, which is most important for my second-language learners.

Dr. Seuss has been a well-celebrated, well-loved author for many years.

His writing is always favorite in any classroom. Please help pass down your own love of reading to a new generation of readers and help develop their creative minds. "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." -- Dr. Seuss
