My Students

I teach in a small community full of kids excited to learn. My students are bright and energetic with the capability to do many good things in their lives. My students are from a small close-knit rural community that celebrates special events like the Maypole Dance and Pioneer Day. The area of our school is so large that some students need to take a 30-minute bus ride every morning.

I joined DonorsChoose because I know so many people that want to help our students and this is a great way for generous people to contribute and help our students.

I have been able to see many teachers and students benefit from the kind acts of donors.

Thank you for all that you do to help bring the necessary supplies to our classrooms.

My Project

As a teacher, the job becomes increasingly difficult to find ways to motivate students to do their best in the classroom and to prepare them to contribute to the real world. To help students learn how jobs and money work, we have set up a classroom economy to reward students who work hard and complete their classroom job requirements and assignments.

The resources and incentives I am requesting like the speakers and tents are the things my students voted on to put in our classroom store and auction that they can buy with their classroom money.

The drone will help students interested in STEM and technology. The tents and hammocks will encourage kids to explore the outdoors and come up with scientific observations. These prizes will motivate students to come to class, study, and work hard to complete their assignments and perform well on their assessments.

Tents and hammocks will encourage kids to spend more time outdoors and away from screens. The candy will be used as motivators and be given out as students as they perform well on tests.

I incorporate a classroom economy where students earn classroom money each day that they can save to use at an auction.

The classroom economy helps students understand the importance of hard work and saving money. Each student applies for a job and contributes to our classroom the best way that they can. Opportunities are given to students to earn and save money to use at a class auction and class store at the end of the year.

This classroom economy program has helped me teach students financial responsibility and give them an opportunity to be successful with how they earn and spend classroom money. I know that these items will encourage my students to work even harder in school.
