This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students attend a TK-5th grade, Title I income, school in the heart of San Diego, CA. 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. The cultural diversity in my class encompasses students from almost every continent. Each student brings a heritage that further enriches their unique identity. My students have a range of mild-to-moderate disabilities, such as Autism, Learning Disability, and/or Attention Deficit Disorder. Each student radiates happiness and joy coming to school.

My students are passionate about gardening and learning how they can help their environment.

It is my goal to help my students learn how to care for their environment and help our class garden grow and flourish. The garden beds and soil will give our fruits and vegetables a home. These supplies will help us continue to watch our garden grow and enjoy our harvest. My students have taken pride in caring for our garden and getting to enjoy our "school grown" goodies! Gardening has helped each of my students' confidence, teamwork, patience, and feelings of accomplishment and gratitude.
