As an elementary teacher in rural Texas, my colleagues and I are consistently looking for exciting and inventive ways to get our students engaged and learning.
Our students are ambitious, energetic, and gregarious!
They love to encourage one another, challenge each other, and exercise their competitive natures. Research has proven that academic performance and behavior is improved when physical activity is provided for elementary students throughout the day. We are hoping to create a new space to boost large groups of student interaction. We want to provide them with the opportunity to physically challenge themselves and each other.
Our students are growing and learning in a small, loving community that supports our kids at every turn. It is our wish to provide new experiences for each one of our students.
My Project
GAGA Ball has quickly become a favorite alternative to the age old dodge ball. This game is a fast paced, high energy sport played inside an octagon-shaped pit. Quick game turn-overs allow players multiple playing times, which equals lots of turns and lots of fun!
Our students work hard, and we want to allow them to play hard with a new, exciting game that allows large groups of children to participate.
They will use physical agility skills such as jumping, turning, striking, dodging, and eye-hand coordination. Students in Pre-K through 6th grade will be able to enjoy the fun of GAGA Ball for years to come when this project comes to fruition with your help!
