My Students

I serve a unique group of 4th graders in El Paso, Texas. They are diverse in their backgrounds, ranging from students in military families, as well as low income families. Students of varying behavioral, academic, and language abilities levels are all loved, supported, and included in my classroom.

This group of 4th grade students is inquisitive, thoughtful, resilient, and deserving of the best education possible in order to be change agents in this world.

We can make a difference in the lives of these 4th graders by supporting their literacy.

My Project

This 2020-2021 school year I want to ensure that I give my students the best I can offer since we have started with online learning from home. To improve their outcomes and ensure they are continuing to grow, my online teaching needs to be truly engaging for my students.

Many of my students are visual learners and having access to these tools will increase engagement and excitement for online learning.

Access to a printer from home will be useful to create colorful materials for live lessons when teaching my students. A laminating machine and sheets will also be needed to create sturdy and reusable props to use during my video lessons with my students. These tools would allow me to display content vocabulary and graphic organizers in a more creative way for my students. Having a variety of ways to create and display visuals with these tools will support developing my students' literacy skills.

My hope is that these resources will continue to be used when we eventually go back to face-to-face learning and that we will build upon what we have created through online learning.
