Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have ten highly-motivated special education students. They come to school each day eager to learn. All of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Many come to school hungry and are grateful for a filling breakfast. Computers and tablets, therefore, are simply are not a priority for their parents.
Computer literacy is very important as my students enter Junior High School.
My students look forward to Junior High School, a chance to have new experiences with electives and sports. They will be expected to be able to navigate computer programs, type assignments, and complete internet research. Unfortunately, my students come from homes that do not have access to the internet. The Chromebooks will provide a positive introduction to their computer literacy.
My Project
These two Acer Chromebooks will be a welcome addition to our classroom. They will provide the students' with the ability to work independently on a variety of applications and instructional material including, but not limited to, ST Math, Lexia, Seesaw, Accelerated Reader, Code Campus, Epic Books, and Typing. It is amazing how often we reach for our computers each day.
What is more exciting is the fact the instructional material provided through the use of these Chromebooks can target the educational needs of my students, each of whom works at a variety of levels and at a different pace.
