My Project

I love our science curriculum. It focuses on using culturally relative narratives to teach important biological concepts. However, it is lacking in Indigenous knowledge that I believe is key to fully appreciating and connecting to nature. Furthermore, many of my students read below grade level.

I would like to help students better appreciate nature and indigenous knowledge and build their literacy skills in biology class.

To accomplish this, I hope with this project will complete a class book study of Braiding Sweetgrass. This project will provide me with the books I need, journals for students to use for reflections, as well as chocolate chip granola bars to keep our book study fueled.
