As an urban school based in the heart of the city, we do not have access to on-site soccer fields. We often have to be creative in identifying practice space, taking advantage of any open green space that is accessible by public transportation. These small, portable goals and other practice gear will give us the ability to have more flexibility in our practice space and time. This soccer gear will be used by both the boys and girls teams.
Despite the lack of field space, the boys team won their division last year and the girls team won their division the previous year.
Both teams are competing in the most competitive, top divisions in the Philadelphia Public League.
Because we do not have dedicated practice space with built-in goals, the portable goals and other practice equipment will allow us to set up accessible practice space wherever we are. With the larger goals and pinnies, we will be able to more closely mimic game play by setting up intra-squad scrimmages as well as scrimmages with other schools. The volley net will allow the players to work on ball control and team building. All of it can be folded and stored in our dedicated storage area--the trunks of our coaches cars--during the season so that we have immediate access to creating a high-level practice experience for our players.
