Ms. Brower from Jamaica NY is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need wireless headphones, sensory play materials, paint, dice, lapboards and bean bag seats to explore and engage in new learning styles beyond a classroom lecture and to really enjoy the benefits that music can have on our lives!

There is not one day I walk out of work not learning something new from my students. They are creative, thoughtful and the most amazing group of students I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects that allow them to think outside of the box.
My students possess a wide range of challenges on a daily basis.
Never once has that stopped them. They are dedicated and enjoy every moment of school. My students are truly an incredible grou and I am so lucky, thankful and honored to be their teacher.
As an educator, my end goal is to help my students gain independence and confidence. Throughout every lesson, my staff and I work to instill these skills within my students. With tabletop scissors, my students will be able to cut various materials with less support from an adult. The hand-held whiteboards are a great tool to help my students express opinions, answer questions and participate in lessons with less assistance.
My students in the classroom have a wide range of disabilities.
Within that range, we see cognitive and physical disabilities. Some students also present aggressive behaviors or at times, can become very over stimulated. Sensory materials will allow my students to self-regulate and help them calm their bodies in a safe manner. A bean bag is a great item to have within the classroom so the students can take a break and regulate themselves in a comfortable spot. Along with a bean bag, sensory paint and sensory bins are just a couple of great tools that would really help my students.
As we know, students love music. We also know students all learn in a variety of ways (visual, auditory). With the use of wireless headphones, students can gather around a computer and listen to a book or a recording based on the classroom topic. These students can also use the headphones to listen to music. With the wireless headphones, there is less worry about students playing with the wires or putting them in their mouths. These headphones would provide a safe way for my students to use technology within the classroom.
To help my students gain independence and confidence, we need help gaining these materials.
