Help me give my students the opportunity to become meteorologists in our outdoor classroom!

My Project

I love how inquisitive our students are! They ask "Why?" a LOT and want to know all the details then explore to figure out the answer. Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students will utilize an outdoor classroom which correlates with our Mississippi state standards creating an exciting learning environment for them to learn and interact with the natural world through hands-on, play-based, or multi-sensory activities. Because of the severe weather we have in our area, we want to build this outdoor classroom to teach them what being a meteorologist encompasses, awareness about staying safe from tornadoes and floods, how to teach others the safety measures they learn, plus encourage them to take care of our planet through environmental awareness. Although the outdoor classroom emphasizes science standards that our fifth graders study for their state test, all of the teachers will benefit, therefore promoting cross-curriculum opportunities. With the numerous benefits and all that the outdoor classroom offers, I hope you consider my application for “Go Wild Science Child!”. I appreciate your time and look forward to implementing our outdoor classroom with your help.
