Middle school students are the most special group a person can have the honor of working with. My students are amazingly diverse in their language, cultures, abilities, interests, learning styles, family structures, and more! The variety of curiosity and knowledge that my students bring into my room every day never ceases to amaze me. While in title I am a teacher, one of my favorite parts of every day is learning from my amazing, diverse group of students.
Preparing my amazing students to become our next innovators, creators, educators, and adults of all kinds is something I am extremely passionate about.
My student population includes approximately 50% economically disadvantaged students and 20% English language learners. I am committed to providing my students with the best and most relevant education possible. I hope that others will see the potential of this dynamic group and support them!
My Project
Swim through the ocean, fly in a helocopter fighting a fire, watch buildings as sea levels rise! Making learning come alive is so powerful for students. In Science we explore things that many students have not experienced first hand. As we study the health of our oceans and marine mammals students can be looking at and “swimming” through the ocean with our whales, dolphins, seals and more. They can see and experience what is happening in our oceans and with our animals with their own senses.
A big part of our curriculum is having students become empowered to educate others and use what they know to affect positive change.
The depth of understanding that viewing films through the VR headset adds to our program will encourage students to take ownership of the issues and become committed to our site vision of creating a school where we are all life-long learners and change makers.
