This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are bright, inquisitive, and very technologically savvy. They love to be challenged, and look for different ways to express themselves and display their content knowledge simultaneously. They are eager to learn new things and continually look for ways to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. As they begin preparing for college, they are increasingly aware of the world around them and have various questions about the experiences of people who are different from them.
Our students are blessed to be in a diverse environment that encourages collaboration and discussion.
They are already comfortable participating in discussions where opposing and/or controversial subject matter may come up, and know how to listen to and respect each other's opinions. Our students truly are preparing to become the next generation of leaders.
My Project
As connected as the world seems, many young people feel isolated, ignored and alone. The purpose of GO Project LIT is to improve student learning by fostering a love of reading in my school and community by exposing students to literature about kids who look like them and share their experiences. It will also expose students to situations that may be completely different from theirs, which helps build humanity and compassion for others. We want to encourage and support this next generation of leaders so that they will be equipped to make positive changes in our ever more connected world.
