Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard-working and constantly overcoming the barriers that life has set for them. I work at a Title I school where the majority of my students are low income and qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. 98% of my students are minorities, the majority of them of Hispanic origin. Many of my them are immigrants and English comes as a second language to them.
My students have overcome these hurdles which dictate that they should not succeed.
They are passionate about success and are willing to put in the effort to assure they succeed.
My Project
The Microsoft Surface Go would allow my students to transition into true scholars of the future. It would allow me to provide my underprivileged students the opportunity to build the skills necessary to compete in the world. Many of my students do not have any access to technology, other than what they are introduced to at school. In school we are able to introduce students to basic technology skills such as typing on a desktop or laptop computer, but those are not the skills that will put my students on the cutting edge of a competitive world.
Writing is a key practice of traditional human expression, and writing on a Microsoft Surface Go tablet is the ideal way to mesh this traditional method of expression with today’s preferred technology infused methods.
Instead of taking their pen to the paper, they’ll take their pen to the screen and this will allow students to continue to work through traditional methods while gaining the critical skills to compete in a technology driven world. This will also allow students to share and publish their work, while making it accessible to their peers for peer review.
