This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an awesome group of 3rd graders! They are part of the reason why Compton, CA is on the way to a positive future.
One of the things that makes my students so fantastic is their diversity, not only racially, but in their home life experiences as well.
While a few of my students live with both parents, most live with a single parent or are in foster care. Many of the single parent households are due to the death or incarceration of the other parent. Despite the many issues they face, these kids amaze me daily with their resilience and optimism!
My Project
Our school is part of a grant through Apple that provides an iPad for each student to use at school. The iPads have opened our students' eyes to so many exciting experiences!
The headphones we are requesting will make the experience infinitely better!
Currently, only half of my students have earbuds to use. The other students are left struggling to maintain focus while trying to tune out other students' volume. Providing each student with a good quality pair of headphones to use in class will remove one obstacle in their daily learning.
Additionally, the microphone will help their teacher be able to project her voice without strain!
