Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten this year. About 90% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch. All of the students in my classroom are bilingual students. In my classroom, we work on strengthening our Spanish reading, writing, and speaking skills. Some of my students come from difficult family lives, but they don't let that stop them from learning and trying their best!
Most students are living with a single parent, grandparent, or both parents who work full time.
Although many parents are eager to help in any way they can, I want to help them provide the best for their child.
I plan on building a community in our classroom that will allow each student to feel comfortable and express their creativity. I want to support my students the best I can! They like to move, they love to be part of our community, and they love lots of positive attention.
My Project
It is my goal to provide my students with as many meaningful and memorable learning experiences as I can. I want to both engage and challenge my students each day. One way to do this is with the use of glow in the dark games. When students step into our glow in the dark classroom, their engagement and desire to learn will skyrocket.
Glow games are a great way to review concepts we have already learned in a fun and engaging way.
As a teacher, I am always striving to present materials in a fun and engaging way that will meet the learning styles and needs of all my students. Students will work together completing challenging, content-based task cards while doing what they love best-playing games! This room transformation, along with gamed based activities, will definitely create an environment where all learners can be successful.
The flashlights will be used on Friday for our Flashlight Friday activity. Students will be able to ready their books with their flashlights. I want students to establish their love of reading at an early age.
