This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a school where the students come from mostly a low economic background and many of them are immigrants that recently arrived in this country. These are kids who want to beat the odds but have so much stacked against them. This year I am teaching 23 fifth graders. Many of my students face challenges both in and out of the classroom.
My goal is to create a fun, inviting, and engaging classroom community for them to come to every day.
My Project
I know what you're thinking, what is up with the Glow in the Dark?! To me, the most important part of teaching is thinking outside of the box! I came across a teacher online who did Glow in the Dark Math, Science, Reading, everything! Imagine a child's face when they walk in the door of a classroom thinking it's a regular day and the classroom is set up for a Glow in the Dark learning party!
Engaging children now is definitely not easy, and as teachers, we have to find new and exciting ways to get them interested, learning, and engaged in the lesson.
Unfortunately, these kinds of lessons are not within the means of many of us. However, we are teachers and we find a way to make anything happen for our kids. If this project was funded with your support, you would be a difference in my classroom that I can reuse for many years to come.
