Help me give my students the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology that will help give their design skills a chance to propel them into the future.
The future is here and to help our students take their skills to the next level the Visual Arts Department is looking to bring in 21st Century Technology by implementing a Glowforge Aura. This particular Donors Choose Project will help us cover the cost of the machine and some supplies to help us get started utilizing it.
Glowforge Aura is digital design and manufacturing technology that helps ensure we are giving students the 21st Century skills they need to be successful beyond High School.
This is a resource which all our Visual Arts Classes can utilize in a variety of ways. Such as:
-creating templates and stencils
-engraving materials to incorporate in a variety of media (canvas, clay, photography, printmaking, etc)
-create modular pieces to assemble into 3D objects
-creating unique stamps that can be incorporate in both 2D and 3D art
Not only will it help our students but it will help teachers build classroom sets of equipment like weaving boards, reusable pallets, tool organizers, and much much more, all at a fraction of the price of purchasing them from vendors.
At our schoool, we pride ourselves in providing opportunities for students to graduate with more than just a diploma, but skills they can start utilizing in the professional world. It is having skills like these that help to build meaningful resumes that stand out when applying for scholarships, colleges, and even the workforce as well.
