My Project
Each fall, we host "Glow Week" in the gym for our 1100+ students in grades K-6 during physical education. It is a favorite week for many, and a lot of fun in the gym. The lights are off, we have black-lights out, and students have so much fun being active with their classmates. We do glow bowling, rock wall, neon balloon, keep it up, dance party, and more.
Each year, we provide every student with a glow-in-the-dark bracelet to wear in class.
It not only helps us be able to see students but also makes them feel included in the special event.
After our last two glow weeks, we have learned some things that would make them better and go more smoothly. We are in need of an additional extension cord to connect the bowling lights, new streamers to glow in the black-lights around the gym, tablecloths to cover the door windows to keep the extra light out, a glow in the dark ball toss, and some new sport balls (basketball, football, soccer ball) that glow for new stations.
Keeping students active is so important - and we love to do it in fun ways like this! It is definitely a core elementary school memory for them that they look forward to every year!
