This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My elementary art students are the best! They love taking risks and showing their creativity. We would like to put on an art show, and in the art room, feature a Glow Gallery. The students will use fluorescent and neon materials to create different types of art and art forms. Each grade will create something different and special.

The "Under The Sea" themed glow gallery will feature scuba diver portraits, crabs, octopi, sea turtles that the students will draw, along with 3D rainbow fish and aquariums, plus murals that the students will collaboratively paint.

The blacklights and extension cords will allow the room to be well illuminated, and the paint will glow beautifully.

These materials will allow students to interact with their art in ways that we have not experienced before in the art room. The goal is for everyone to be able to create something to showcase in the glow gallery, that they will feel a sense of pride when sharing their creation with their families. As a small thank you for coming, students will receive a pair of LED glasses.
