Help me give my students Glow Day incentives--equipped with UV LED black lights and black light-reactive materials to make reading, writing, and incentive games fun--worthy of inspiring their very best focus, hard work, and positive attitudes.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am blessed to teach in a school rich in diversity, both culturally and academically. We are a true reflection of our diverse northeast Baltimore City community, a school that is home to The Ingenuity Program, a Gifted and Talented site, and an ESOL site. My scholars are a good cross-section of the student body, with a range of skill levels and an array of backgrounds. They are full of life and a dynamic blend of personalities and learning styles who learn best when they are actively engaged and when you foster an authentic connection that inspires trust and motivation.
My scholars work best when they have high expectations set for them, a positive relationship with supportive teachers who believe in them and push them to meet and exceed those high expectations, and when their hard work and exceptional conduct is recognized and rewarded.

My Project
These incentive materials are far more exciting and engaging than any current Fun Friday options or other incentive these scholars have ever had experienced.
The sheer novelty provided by these materials alone will make this an incentive that is unquestionably worth working toward earning--even for my most challenged scholars.
Your donations will make it possible to take instruction-adjacent activities and class incentives to a new level, from elevating and enjoying everyday writing tasks by doing the work with a GLOW twist--like doing writing with a neon highlighter "lit up" on white paper from the black light, to capping the instructional time off with GLOW games--like neon-colored Jenga for that glow-in-the-dark twist--to celebrate the victories of the day.
