My Students

Valley View Viking Scholars are fun, energetic, and always ready to learn! They love to sing and dance when ever they get the chance to. Valley View students come through my classroom twice a week. The school itself has a kind and safe environment that benefits all students.

Whether it be note reading, singing, or playing instruments, my students are eager to come into the music room!

Students' backgrounds vary tremendously. Each student has their own experiences and personalities that make them unique. Even though this is the case, they all know that music is a safe, judgement-free zone where they can let out their creative energy!

My Project

Students at Valley View love to play instruments! One type of instrument that we are lacking in are glockenspiels. They are the 'baby xylophones' as my kindergartners love to call them. We learn about high and low notes and explore them in K-2 and then translate notes on the staff to actually playing songs in 3-5! By using the Orff-Schulwerk approach, students are always playing and learning. Valley View currently has 13 glockenspiels in working condition. Four more glockenspiels would help in working towards a full class set! It helps instruction and student learning when each student can play their own instrument!
