My Project

I am hoping to receive a class set of "The Giver" for my 6th-grade students next school year. It is challenging to find novels that are enjoyable to both male and female students, especially in middle school. I believe The Giver would be an excellent introduction to the dystopian future genre, as well as a coming-of-age story both males and females (about the same age as the main character) can enjoy.

We will study vocabulary and literary elements throughout the novel as we read.

We will read this book as a class. At the end of the novel, the students will create a book report.

We live in a very small community with limited resources and funding. I know that many of my students do not have the chance to go to our local library, let alone travel or experience the world as some more fortunate can. I try to make up for this and bring them adventure and experiences through reading! Please help my students gain experience, insight, and literary skills through "The Giver!"
