Help me give my students resources to engage in creative and academic writing that allows each student to have their own journal throughout the entire school year.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I would like to be able to provide each and every student in my English classes with a journal and materials to write in the journal. By providing students with this equal opportunity, I can ensure that each student will have opportunities to be engaged with writing during class. These specific items will make a difference in learning by providing each and every student with something of their own that they can customize and free their thoughts into.
My goals for this project are to increase in-class engagement by encouraging all students to complete writing assignments and projects inside of their own journal.
They may also use it to take notes during class which will aid in their memory of content covered in class.
I believe that my students are special because they have so much to say. I teach senior ELA, and by this age, they are able to create their own thoughts and ideas that are so unique to them and what they have been through in life. I would love to provide them with an opportunity to have access to these journals and materials to helps these ideas get onto paper.
