Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I must say that in spite of our current situation with COVID 19 and the newness of remote at-home learning, my students have really adapted very well. Their enthusiasm and curiosity make it easy for them to engage in activities that challenge them to think outside the box to discover other ways to find solutions despite our inability to be in a traditional classroom setting.

However because my students come from low-income homes and may not always have the resources at home, I want to make sure that every student has the means and opportunity to fully participate and to ensure that each student's needs are met!

My Project

Essential materials such as pencils, paper, notebooks, and folders will assist students with completing assignments and the folders will allow them to keep their materials organized. Because we are online, the whiteboards will allow the student to write their answers and display them. The art supplies will be used for projects needed for their art class which some have not been able to participate in because of lack of materials.

As this is a new learning experience for both us the teacher and the students, many of my students don't have the necessary tools at home to participate as they would like to.

I believe that by giving them these essential materials it will give them the motivation and the means needed to conquer this new challenge and conquer it with pride.
