Giving Space for Students with Social and Emotional Needs

Help me give my students the space to feel comfortable meeting and working near the teacher one on one with this comfortable couch with desk station. My high school students really love connecting and learning this way!

My Project

I work as an art teacher in a public high school with increasing populations of students with anxiety. I have found much success and increased comfort levels with students when they sit near my desk and talk away from the student desks to conference about their progress or even just having space to work independently during their study hall. Many students come in outside of their scheduled class time due to absences. School truancy and low attendance due to mental health are on the rise. The space outside of the regular student desks is often coveted and a place where students feel encouraged to work productively while having better access to the teacher to ask questions.

My current couch has broken and become unusable from years of wear.

I want to continue to provide this space for my students in my classroom. The ability to use Chromebooks on the desk top of the couch I have requested will also help my students to use their classroom technology such as Google Classroom. Please help me provide this much loved space for my students with social and emotional needs.
