This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our migrant/refugee students often come to school hungry due to their limited food resources at home or the shelter they're staying in. Often times it is 8am and they are looking for a snack to start their day. Other times, their lunch time is late in the day and they need a quick snack to help them stay focused in class and finish the day with energy.

This project would really help our migrant/refugee students get a boost of energy to help them get through the day in school.

The goal for this project is to be able to provide our migrant/refugee students at our school a snack when they are not able to get a breakfast at their home or shelter where they are staying. This will also allow us to provide them with a little boost of energy if they need it to get through the day, which will ultimately help them remain focused in their classes.

What makes our students special is that they are students who have gone through so many challenges to be in this country and are eager to learn. They are recent migrant/refugee students who are facing a life in a new country, having to learn new language, and quickly learn to live in a city very different then what they are used to.
