Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, as well as diverse educational needs. One hundred percent of our student population receives free or reduced lunch. Our community has a high rate of Special Education students and English Language Learners, and the majority of our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds.

As much as our parents try to support their children, oftentimes our students come to school without the basic items needed to be successful such as backpacks, pencils, folders, etc.

My Project

I'm requesting a variety of fencing including snow fences, fence posts, and cable ties. These supplies will help us enclose the garden so that we can protect it and to make it more official.

The purpose of the garden is to use it to teach our students mathematics, science, and civics, as the harvest will go to the community.

As of today, we have five tomato plants, six bell pepper plants and six jalapeno plants. The tomatoes are already producing fruit and the other plants are budding.

We look forward to a small winter harvest and a much larger spring harvest. None of this will be possible without help from DonorsChoose.org donations. So, thank you!
