This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a class of hardworking and fun loving 4th and 5th-grade students in a special day class for students with autism. My students come to school every day committed to learning. They continue to give their 100% in spite of all the challenges they face. My school is a fast growing Title 1 school in the suburb of Los Angeles California. It is a K-5th-grade school with a student population of about 560 students, made up of predominantly black and Hispanic students; most of whom are on the free or reduced-price lunch program.
My Project
Through the generosity of our benefactors in Donorschoose, we have been able to purchase some coding materials like Ozobot. We need a laptop that will be utilized by students to do the coding inside and outside the classroom. With the laptop, my students will have the opportunity of utilizing the educational software and websites my school has invested in. Software like Raz-Kids, Benchmark Universe, Starfall, and BrainPOP.The laptop will also be used in instructing our students on basic coding skills. The laptop will help my students to research topics of study in class as well as create presentations for those topics.
