My students need adjustable-height student desks and chairs to promote basic comfort depending on their size and physical restraints.

My Students

The students in my classroom are incredibly unique from one another. Each student has a disability or combination of disabilities that inhibits their learning so significantly that they spend less than 40% of their day in the presence of students in general education. The disabilities of my students range from varying levels of cognitive to severely physical.

Since the students in my class receive a high level of support and modification, the curriculum places an emphasis on functional daily living skills.

In addition to traditional academics, I teach my students to independently care and advocate for themselves, make socially appropriate decisions, navigate community establishments, and explore careers in which they are interested in.

The program I teach has only been implemented at our school for 6 years thus far. Two summers ago, a kitchen was built in the classroom, and our new program really took off! As you can imagine, we're still establishing basic classroom supplies and materials to most appropriately accommodate our students. That's why we need your help!

My Project

My project will make a significant difference to my students who are physically disabled. Our current classroom desks prove to be dysfunctional, as they are not equipped for centered learning or differing student heights, sizes, and disabilities. Additionally, the requested desks will allow students who use motorized scooters to pull right up to their desks.

My students deserve to have desks that accommodate their needs.

Having these requested adjustable-height student desks and chairs will create individualized learning environments and will promote a consistent classroom aesthetic.
