The majority of my students are economically disadvantaged, yet their “joie de vivre”, and enthusiasm for learning appear to evenly match that of their most privileged and affluent peers. Going back to school is usually an exciting time for teachers and students. A brand new school year usually means greeting new eager faces, forming new friendships and partnerships along with the anticipation of a successful and exciting new year of instruction and learning! What usually remains the same are the items, resources, and tools that are needed to make the classroom an exceptional learning environment for the students. The needs are numerous and varied yet they are needed to help create the type of space where students look forward to coming to learn and grow academically and socially.
Most of my partner parents are unable to provide even the most basic supplies, therefore I seek your support and partnership to help us get started with the basics.
From tissues for runny noses, pencils and pens to engrave the ideas of creative minds, dry erase boards and markers to engage and to encourage interactive participation, these are just some of the basic supplies that can make a difference in the day to day learning experiences and help bring equitable learning opportunities to students who would otherwise have to do without.
Thank your for giving us a head start into a successful school year!
