Hello, friend! My classroom is third through fifth-grade cluster special education, meaning that my students spend their entire day in my classroom. My students are bright, passionate, and are always excited to learn. As a school with more than 80% of students identified as being low-income, we need your help to provide a stimulating and exciting learning environment, along with assistance for our basic school supplies- items like pencils, glue, or tissues, which we often take for granted, and items for assistive technology (specific to special education) such as tripod pencil grips, adaptive scissors, or raised line paper to meet accessibility needs for our students.
As inquisitive learners in special education in an under-resourced school, my students are in need of more opportunities, and basic supplies to meet their sensory, academic, and social-emotional needs, many of which can be provided through your generous donations.
My goal as a teacher is to provide stimulating, comprehensive, and relevant education to ALL of my students, and help them grow up to be their best selves! Thank you for taking the time to look at our project, and thank you in advance for your generous donations.
In donating to our DonorsChoose project you will be helping eleven students reach their maximum potential, explore math, science, and social studies, and social-emotional learning. By helping fund our classroom, you will be helping provide our very basic needs for our classroom, accessible or adaptive materials so that each student can learn and access our curriculum, and other materials that will ensure that every child receives the education they deserve in a multi-modal environment, which is essential for students with special needs. My students have dreams to be nurses, veterinarians, teachers, dancers, and artists. Please help us meet our goals and help students achieve their dreams!
Your donations will help my students reach science, math, and engineering curriculum through kinesthetic, multi-modal learning.
Students will test their engineering knowledge by putting together marble mazes and creating complicated and exciting tracks to demonstrate types of motion. By providing us with beakers you will be helping us to create science experiences (Coke and Mentos anyone?) where all students will have the opportunity to learn hands-on with their own beaker or graduated cylinder, increasing our students' independence and sense of accomplishment as they follow and navigate their science experiences. Our math manipulative cubes will assist each child by giving them a visual of numbers, and they will be able to create and solve problems that they have previously had difficulty with as many students with special needs require multi-modal learning and benefit from tactile and kinesthetic learning. By providing these new learning experiences, my students will be activating different aspects of learning. My hope is that all students will feel more engaged in the academic processes of different projects and be proud of their sense of achievement when they have their own materials.
