My Students
Located in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, my school has a student population composed of a majority of black and Hispanic students. The majority of my scholars need outside support to succeed in their high school years. They are very much aware of the importance of receiving a good foundation in their high school years; however, they lack the necessary resources that will give them the opportunities to compete with their piers in terms of conceptual understandings. Historically every time we have had resources available to my scholars, they did very well on their regents and AP exams. They are just asking for the resources to be available to them.
My Project
My scholars have always confided to me that their families cannot afford to get them outside assistance for their school work. with the afterschool tutorial services provided in our school, this device will make it easier for me to provide customized and differentiated assistance to my scholars. I teach Physics, AP Calculus, Algebra 2 and Geometry common core. The majority of the resources that we use are in digital form; so this iPad Pro, with the touch of a button, will make these resources available to any of my students. with the resources readily accessible, I will be able to provide them with the assistance that they need more efficiently.
